South Plains Region
The South Plains Region card features birds common to South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley. This region includes birds such as the Altamira Oriole, Green Jay, Great Kiskadee and Red-crowned Parrot.
This card is cosponsored by Visit Brownsville and the Laredo Birding Festival.
Grab your binoculars and head to Resaca de la Palma State Park. Walk along the trails and search for green jays, least grebes and Harris’s hawks—all are found within the park. Other popular birding destinations include Sabal Palm Sanctuary and the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
